how to deal with a girlfriend's past relationships

While most guys are hung up about a girlfriend’s sexual past, some struggle with how to deal with a girlfriend’s past relationships. This is fairly unusual in men, but just as painful if you happen to suffer from this.

Guys tend to be far more upset about their wife or girlfriend’s sexual history, rather than who they were romantically attached to.

Discovering that she once had a threesome. Or had sex-buddies. Or has had fifty one-night-stands is usually what burns guys up.

In this post, though, I want to look at how to deal with a girlfriend’s past relationships, as it’s still a significant problem.

Here’s a key method that will help you learn how to beat retroactive jealousy of your girlfriend’s past relationships.

How To Deal With A Girlfriend’s Past Relationships Step #1: Realize How Negative You’re Being

A big part of the reason why you’re suffering from retroactive jealousy ocd over this guy is because you’ve built him up in your mind as an enemy.

The problem is, you’re harboring a great deal of negativity at the moment concerning this guy which is causing you mental pain.

This mental pain is probably fairly entrenched, as it’s been building up over months or years of thinking about him in a negative light.

Would you say any of the following statements apply to you?

  • His shared past with my girlfriend makes me feel jealous and upset.
  • I don’t like the fact he’s experienced things with her that I never will.
  • I hate him for keeping in touch with my girlfriend, years after they dated.

Let’s face it, there are probably a hundred reasons to hate this guy.

But if you stop to think about it, is it doing you any good?

How To Deal With A Girlfriend’s Past Relationships Step #2: Release Your Negativity

Essentially, the process involves changing the way you think about your girlfriend’s ex-boyfriends.

If right now you’re feeling anger toward him, you need to turn this emotion into something else.

What you need to do is release the negativity inside your mind that you’re feeling about him.

And the way to do this is to stop thinking of him as an “enemy” and start thinking of him as a “friend”.

You don’t have to actually go out and make friends with him, but just reframe him in your mind as someone you don’t hate.

Someone you might actually like if you knew him.

The fact is, he’s probably an okay guy. Otherwise your partner wouldn’t have dated him.

By reframing him into someone you’d probably like if you actually knew him, it’ll release much of this unnecessary negativity that’s built up inside you.
